Sites I've built for real companies

Nine jobs, nine different starting points. Two of the companies had no site at all, one had a web address that only returned an error message, one had a site that looked dated, one shared its site and accounts with a shop it no longer belongs to, and the rest needed something they could show people. What they have in common is that none of them ordered a website for the sake of having a website. They wanted the phone to ring.

How long it takes depends on how much has to be made from scratch. A one-pager like Linda's or Sun Guarden's first site moves quickly once the foundation is settled. The bigger jobs, where the website, Google, Facebook, a quote form and reviews all have to hang together, take longer and are usually built in stages, like Bra Bygg's twelve pages and Sun Guarden's trips and enquiries.

What I do differently today compared to when I started is that I put the measuring first. On Bra Bygg it gave me numbers to show, and those numbers made it easy to decide what to build next. Without measuring, every decision is a matter of taste.
