How to get your company found on Google

The whole picture: Google Business Profile, indexing, a website built with the right keywords and headings. How it fits together, and why it pays off.

"Getting found on Google" isn't a button you press. It's a few parts pulling in the same direction, and when they do, customers start finding you on their own. Here's the whole picture, in the order I usually build it.

1. Google Business Profile

Your free listing in search and on the map. Often the first thing a local customer sees, and the route to many direct calls. Fill it in properly, add photos and gather reviews. I've written a separate guide about this: Google Business Profile.

2. Get indexed

A website that Google doesn't have in its index doesn't exist in the search results. You need to be indexed, and ideally have several pages that cover the different ways customers search. More on how that works in Why Google indexing decides whether customers find you.

3. A website built for search

It's not enough just to exist. The site should be built so that both customers and Google understand it:

  • The right keywords: the words your customers actually search for, in the right places.
  • Clear headings: a strong H1 and sensible H2s that describe the content.
  • Fast and mobile-friendly: most people search on their phones, and sluggishness is penalized.
  • A structure Google understands: clean code, a sitemap and internal linking.

This is the craft of what I do. A site that is beautiful and gets found.

4. Capture the ones who come

All the traffic in the world is worthless if the visitor leaves without getting in touch. Make it ridiculously easy to make contact (clear buttons, a phone number up top) and consider an AI assistant that answers around the clock and collects leads.

What this is worth

This is the whole point. It's easy to fixate on the price tag for a website and visibility. But turn it around:

What is 10 000 kr against a single job? For a roofer, a single job can be worth 150 000 kr. If better visibility on Google brings in one such job you'd otherwise have missed, the investment is recouped many times over. Visibility isn't a cost. It's an investment that works for you around the clock.

How I work

I set up the whole chain: a business profile, an indexed site built with the right keywords and headings, and when needed an AI assistant that captures leads. It all fits together, and I build it so that it shows. On top of that, I stand behind my own products in operation: the community Birdy and the HR tool LoopLead. So what I recommend, I've built and run myself.
